How can you use Generative AI to create work documents?
I’ve shortened the amount of time I spend on various work documents by as much as 75%.
Are you slaving away for hours every week creating routine documents, from products requirements documents to marketing plans?
I felt like I was.
But then I figured out how to use Generative AI to create a first draft that got me past my “writers block” and into editing and reviewing.
You simply need to give your favorite AI tool (e.g. ChatGPT) 3 things. And then hit Go!
Let’s walk through the example of building a sales proposal.
(1) Upload past examples of the type of document you want to create.
Here is an example of past sales proposal that we’ll use for our example:
(2) Upload your scratch notes for what is different about the new document.
Instead of notes, I like to use meeting transcripts from Zoom, MS Teams, Google Meet or elsewhere
(3) Upload anything else the AI needs to know to create the document.
To create a sales proposal, this might be your product catalog or capabilities.
(4) Then simply explain what you want in the Chat prompt:
(5) Review the output
Here it is… It’s good first draft. It still needs some work.
The AI is not good enough to create final documents; they still require work. However, in the worst case scenario, it provides ideas to copy/paste. In the best case scenario, it gives me a 75% complete document.
As always, be mindful to use your company’s internal AI chat tool. (Don’t have one? Get in touch.)
Have questions? Let me know.
